TRAVELING IN STYLE...
It's easy to look your best while traveling, arriving, departing and just having a great time. Staying that way is an art. here are a few pointer I have learned along the way. By Elizabeth Burgos (president of Southern Horizons Vacations)

If you hear someone saying it is difficult to travel in style either hasn't traveled much or has no style. all it takes really is foresight, a small amount of taste and a degree of practicality. Having done this for years, I have some basic strategies that have served me well and help you travel in style! Security: Because today there is increase security it has now become a pain to check your luggage (which invites pilfering), I strongly suggest that you carry your luggage whenever possible. The Solution: Luggage on wheels, which has been one of the biggest boons to travel today, next to ATM's abroad. Most airlines allow you to carry on one piece of luggage, as long as it fits in the overhead bin, and one tote bag (into which I slip my handbag). Make sue the tote bag has a zipper so that when it goes through on the security belt, nothing will spill out. I personally travel with a black tote and black luggage (on wheels, of course). I have my Southern Horizon Vacation Luggage Tag which is easy to see if it does get sent to luggage or in the bin.
Dress in the Air: It's really not comfortable up there at 30,000 feet in cramped quarters with no real leg room. But that doesn't mean you should dress for bed or like your running a marathon. The Solution: Wear something comfortable, fitted (not to baggy or sloppy) tops and bottoms in solid colors, preferable black, navy blue or dark gray. With all the new fabrics out today - there is no reason to look wrinkled. When I fly I usually wear a pair of black knit slacks and a simple designer knit or cashmere top in the same color. Over that I wear a lightweight jacket - the same fabric as the top or similar - and carry a heavier jacket, which I either keep with me or store in the overhead bin. I also take a lightweight cashmere shawl in a bright, pretty color. The temperature on board can fluctuate, and I tend to feel cold easily, so layering works well with me. Shoes: I like loafers or a good walking shoe that you can slid in and out of. Boots, heel and all others can become constricting an could cause swelling.
Destination: How you dress and what you pack depends on where your going and for how long. Note. the warmer the climate, the lighter the load. But if it's cold weather you will be heavy it up (sweaters, boots, bulkier fabrics and the likes) which means checking your luggage if it's too large or weighs too much to bring on board.
RESORT TRIP WEAR: Obviously, dressing for a resort is the easier by far: swimsuits, pareo, T-Shirts, halter tops, sundress, shorts, cotton pants and skirts, sandals, sunglasses and sunscreen. If you need a sunhat - buy it there, and keep it as a souvenir.
CITY TRIP WEAR: is a bit harder. if your taking a business trip that includes evening entertaining, it's tricky. I never pack jeans on trips like these - instead I stick to simple slacks, knit tops, a jacket or two and maybe one black dress that can also do double duty during the day. Shoes: usually I take a midsize heels and a pair of high heels.
EXOTIC and ADVENTURE TRIPS: can become complicated and cumbersome when it comes to packing. Because of the bulkiness of the clothes and gear you are taking. You may have to include prescription medications, like anti-malaria pills, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory pills. You may also have to bring along gear for climbing, hiking or skiing.
Jewelry: the question is do you wear it or leave it at home? If you take it off, keep it close to you - in a small pouch in your handbag - or put it in your hotel safe. Perhaps a better idea is to wear colorful costume jewelry that looks like it is and doesn't pretend to be real. That way you won't worry and just enjoy yourself.
